The 2014 plan presented by Dr. Gorman is partly built around a
research project at Harvard; the Harvard Family Research Project
executed by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Below is information
relevant to this study:
Parental
Involvement and Student Achievement: A Meta-Analysis
- Measurable student achievement is positively and significantly
impacted by parent involvement;
- Examination of different modes of parent involvement and their
effectiveness can help to determine maximum usefulness to families
and school districts;
- That this effect holds for all students, across all racial
groups; and,
- That programs that encourage continued parental involvement
have a measurable positive influence on student achievement.
